Before any of us noticed, the world of writing changed. A past author would write a book, journalist would write articles, or a copywriter would fill a catalog, but none of those were just content. Now, informal blogging has given way to AI powered content creation. New AI written books, magazines, online articles, and more fill everything from Amazon’s Kindle to your search engine. The loss of focus came with a loss of quality causing some to refer to the new content as ‘slop’. As we’ve covered before, human readers often avoid content they think is slop and AI agents do too.
Is it possible to use AI to assist with ‘writing’ instead of ‘creating content’? The classic advice of ‘write what you know’ is still applicable today. AI rewards expertise. Developers create better code while writers write better articles. By using AI in various roles from as a research assistant to editor, you keep a human at the center to increase the quality of your writing avoiding the ‘content trap’. So, what is the difference?

It doesn’t take long to open your favorite AI, ask the AI to create a list of the top 5 ways to make WordPress better, paste those into a blog, and click Publish. With that said, it is fast and very cheap content. It won’t bring many visitors or their agents though. There is no real value since anybody can do the same. The low effort sites get pushed farther down in search engine so the bulk publishing of low quality content doesn’t help the site in the long term.
Fortunately, various AI systems are great at research and analysis. Readers will be drawn for the analysis, AI agents will use it in their comparison calculations, and your site gets pushed up in the results for higher visibility.
