In the early 1990s, there were some that said, “I don’t use a computer” until the world caught up with them. Paperwork was replaced by interactive software menus, paper ledgers became self calculating spreadsheets, and more. Some believe AI is the start of the computer all over again. So, is it too late to get started with AI?
According to statistics from a popular tweet, the number of people who have access to ‘frontier’ AI is as few as 5000 people. More statistics show us up to 90% of the working hours spent on work tasks are not covered by current AI benchmarks. With so few able to access the latest and most capable AI, you are not far behind many others. With that said, the best day to start is today.
Working with WordPress
For many, building in WordPress can be an intimidating experience. There are many thousands of plugins available, themes some with their own builders, and more choices than you can make sense of. Where do you start? AI can help by narrowing down many of these choices to help you get what you need faster. Do you need a commercial expensive plugin when one is available for free open source that does less, but everything you need?
This is where AI can shine. By narrowing down options, you can find free and open source options for all or most of your needs. The focus stays on creating your content instead of trying different options to find they aren’t very much like what you need despite the expensive price tags. It is even great for themes helping you find public domain or permissively licensed content to go onto the site. Music, video, images, and more are available online no GenAI required at museums, public libraries, and more public domain or similarly licensed allowing for commercial use.
Beyond ChatGPT
While ChatGPT is among the most popular options when working with WordPress, there are other popular options such as Claude and Gemini. Claude is very popular in enterprise and business with it’s CoWork assisting with office tasks and Claude Code features building software. Google’s Gemini is very popular in academia where it is used in frontier research and mathematics. These are great companions for OpenAI’s ChatGPT allowing you to compare your answers between systems.
As we are in the early days of AI, the results from the systems can sometimes have mistakes, contradictions, or hallucinations where the system has made up data. One popular way to help stop this is to compare the answers between popular frontier level AI systems much the way you might search Google and Bing to compare the search results. This helps give you a fresh set of resources to confirm answers and look for a different direction when stuck.
The free tier available on OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude is very capable offering the ability to use reasoning, upload files, and use features such as web search. The new Luna model from ChatGPT and Sonnet from Claude are similar to the versions on the $200/month Pro plan from just a few months ago. The benchmarks available on Minebench or others show this in action. If you find it useful enough and hit the limits, consider upgrading. Otherwise, enjoy your Luna or Sonnet with the power others paid hundreds of dollars per month for just a short time ago.
We hope this helps you work with WordPress and get the most out of your site. Come back soon for more on WordPress, AI, and more!
